Plain-English guides
Medicare basics
Medicare is federal health insurance for people 65 and older, and for some younger people with certain disabilities. It comes in parts: Part A (hospital), Part B (medical) and Part D (prescription drugs). You can get coverage through Original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan. Timing matters, and your first chance to sign up is around your 65th birthday.
ACA marketplace vs. Medicare
ACA marketplace plans are for people under 65 who buy their own health insurance. Medicare generally starts at 65. If you’re nearing 65, it helps to plan the switch from one to the other ahead of time.
What a trust does
A trust is a legal arrangement that holds your assets and spells out how they pass to the people you choose. Many families use one to make things simpler for loved ones later.
Hospital indemnity & accident, in plain words
Hospital indemnity plans pay a set cash amount if you’re admitted to the hospital. Accident policies pay a benefit after a covered injury. Both can help with costs your health plan doesn’t cover.
Benefits for employers
Group health plans let a business offer health coverage to its team. For businesses with 10 or more W-2 employees, I can also introduce the Wellthcare benefit.
